Welcome!

Hello World:

Welcome to my blog. I hope that this week's post will provide you with enough information to make the cut into your blog roll, Facebook Share or Like, Tweet, E-mail, or if it really moves you, something over the top like connecting your computer to a big screen television and presenting my message to the world… OK, so I'll cut the jokes out and keep my job as a stylist. Basically, any form of spreading the word is appreciated if you get half as excited about the new trends in hair this month as I am. Here are the two that I'm most excited about.

Peek-a-Boo Highlights: You've seen it… a brunette with brassy blonde streaks or a redhead with highlighter-resembling marks, or even blonde gone wrong with bright white patches. Trust me, I'm not one to point it out, and thanks to this new technique, those looks have not happened in my chair. Case in point: shimmery highlights that don't risk that "highlighted" look are possible with this new technique. Staying away from the hairline, carefully placed color brightens and complements your current color without overpowering it. It's naturally beautiful, which is always better if you currently love your hair color and just want a little bit of a change or color boost. Kim Kardashian's hair in this picture is a good example of this technique.

An oldie but a goodie, "ombré": We've been talking about it for while now,but when it first came out, it was natural's antithesis. Black on the top and blonde on the bottom, it was really that drastic. See this picture of Ashley Simpson, for example:

What has me excited about it now is that the trend has evolved into a sun-kissed look instead of grown-out-highlights style. I have given many brunettes a touch of the caramel blonde that they have wanted for years but been afraid to fully commit to. This is an opportunity for anyone who wants a gradual transition, and the moment it gets boring, there is no limit to the contrast that we can create from hairline to roots.

My favorite example of this style is Mila Kunis:

I am looking forward to sharing the current trends in hair and other useful bits of information learned the hard way by me… and, hopefully, made into a fun, bi-weekly blog for you

Please feel free to leave me a comment, I'm looking forward to sharing the ever-changing trends with you.

-Christine

Shrinkies Individual Hair Extensions 2

Shrinkies Hair Extensions

Shrinkies are plastic tubes that are lined with keratin protein. This method of thermal shrink tubing is what attaches individual hairextensions to your own hair. When heat is applied to the shrinkie, the plastic tube shrinks/ becomes smaller and fuses the extension and natural hair creating a bond. Also since the tubes are lined with a protein glue, there is no slippage. The plastic tubes come in clear so that they are most undetectable. This method requires the use of individual "I-Tip" hair extensions. These individual hair extensions are slid into the plastic shrinkies at the root of your hair, and heat is applied, securing the bond. This method lasts approximately 3 months.

Shrinkies are a durable and long lasting hair extension method. Removal is simple. Simply reheat the bond, remove extension hair and shrinkie and clean any remaining keratin residue with an appropriate removal solution.

Brazilian Keratin Treatment

Looking for frizz-free hair? Whether you have full-out curly locks or straight hair with some unruly fly-aways, a Brazilian Keratin Treatment can be used on every hair type, whether natural or chemically enhanced. Don't worry if you've had other straightening treatments in the past, because the treatment is safe to use with every type of hair condition: from virgin hair, color-treated hair, Japanese Straightened hair, relaxed hair, permed hair, highlighted hair, and even the most difficult of gray hairs.

Do note that the results will last longer on ‘non-virgin’ hair. In other words, porous and damaged hair will hold the Brazilian Keratin Treatment best. Your Brazilian Keratin Treatment will last anywhere from two to four months depending on your hair type. Remember, aftercare is extremely important!

Other than waiting 72 hours to wash your hair after the treatment is completed, you need to have the right shampoo for maintenance. Be sure to use a Sulfate-free shampoo, as sulfates will remove the Keratin.

Ask Christine for recommendations, as she has her favorites and loves to share Brazilian Keratin Treatment maintenance tips.

The Skinny on Brazilian Keratin Treatment for Straight and Shiny Hair:

• Lasts 2-4 months.
• Safe and effective on all types of hair.
• Lasts the longest on non-virgin, or treated/porous hair.
• Be sure to wait 72 hours before washing your hair.
• Always wash with Sulfate-free shampoo.

Cornrow-Track-Extensions

Sewn In Wefts-Tracks

Sewn In Wefts-Tracks

This method of extensions involves sewing a track of hair onto a horizontal base created at the scalp.  This base can be either a braid, or a mricrolinks/beads base.  Using a resilient stitching thread, the weft/track of hair is sewn onto the base.  This method allows for a large amount of hair to be installed and gives a fuller more voluminous effect.  The tracks are done in the middle of your head and  underneath your hairline so you can't see them.  A full head of extensions is usually about 3-5 tracks. This method takes about 1-3hours to apply. The hair can be removed and reused when needed.

Microlinks Hair Extensions:

Microlinks Hair Extensions

Microlinks Hair Extensions:

Micro links Hair extensions are individual strand by strand hair extensions that are attached onto the hair using a matching in color metal bead. This metal bead is usually lined with a plastic layer of silicone, that protects your hair from the possibility of breakage from the metal bead. The silicone also acts as a rubber grip to help keep the bead and hair extension in place, and minimize slippage.  The hair used for this method is "I tip" hair.  When installing, the I tip hair and a small bunch of natural hair  is placed inside the metal bead and then closed shut using a special hair extensions tool.  This method is the safest and most popular  method for hair extensions.
